Your Opportunity: Brooks Acute Care is a 28-bed unit providing care to Medical/Surgical/Obstetrical and Maternity patients received from the ER, Regional/Tertiary facilities and directly from home. This environment is suitable for a Registered Nurse who has recent medical, surgical and/or maternity experience. As a member of the CoAct team, the Registered Nurse provides safe and effective nursing care according to AHS policies and best practice standards. You will coordinate and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, patient and family. You will utilize the nursing processes, critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills to coordinate care, teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and families. You will observe, monitor, report, and document changes in the patients physical, mental, and emotional state. You will periodically assume charge nurse responsibilities once you are established on the unit and orientated to the role. It is the expectation the successful candidate will work in all areas of acute care, including labor and delivery, participate in MoreOB skill drills, workshops, exams etc. and complete all required education in the allotted agreed upon time frame. This position qualifies for the Canada Student Loan Forgiveness Program, which reimburses $4,000 per year (up to a maximum of 5 years) for working in the rural Brooks setting. Description: As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable. Requirements
Requires completion of an accredited nursing education program, active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta, and current BCLS-HCP certification. Candidates must have at least one year of adult medical-surgical nursing experience within the past two years and nonviolent crisis intervention training; additional acute-care certifications and obstetrical experience are preferred.
