Job summary
Company Description Amplify Capital is an early-stage venture capital firm investing in climate and healthcare innovations that advance a more sustainable and healthy future. The firm typically invests $1–3M in pre-seed, seed, and Series A companies across Canada and the United States. Amplify Capital partners closely with mission-driven founders, providing strategic support in addition to capital. Team members join a collaborative environment focused on impact, long-term value creation, and rigorous investment discipline. Role Description The VP Finance (Fractional) is a part-time leadership role responsible for overseeing Amplify Capital’s financial strategy, reporting, and controls. This hybrid role is based in Toronto, ON, with a mix of in-office collaboration and work-from-home flexibility. If you are not located in Toronto, fully remote is acceptable. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading financial planning and forecasting, managing fund and corporate financial statements, and overseeing budgeting and cash flow. The VP Finance will monitor portfolio and firm-level performance, produce timely financial reports, and support partners with data-driven insights for investment decisions. The role also includes refining financial processes, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations, and collaborating with external accountants, auditors, and service providers. Qualifications Required: CPA (CA preferred) with 5+ years, several of them in fund accounting or fund finance, not corporate FP&A alone. Demonstrated expertise in Financial Planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis. Hands-on experience with Financial Statements, including preparation, review, and interpretation. Proficiency in Financial Reporting, including management reports and investor-facing materials. Advanced Analytical Skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide clear recommendations. Experience in venture capital, private equity, or related financial services is highly beneficial. Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. accounting standards and regulatory requirements relevant to investment funds. Comfort with financial software, spreadsheets, and reporting tools; ability to improve financial systems and workflows. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid, part-time leadership capacity. Structure and Compensation • Monthly fee or retainer sized to 1–2 days/week, likely 2 days a week to start and possibly higher over audit season, with seasonal flexibility around audit season and quarter-ends. HOW TO APPLY Email [email protected] with a short note on the funds you’ve supported (structure, size, administrator used) and your availability. We’d rather hear three specific sentences about how you ran a fund’s quarter-end than a formal cover letter.
