Special Events Porter (Maintenance Worker I, F&B) Occasional Part-Time (Up to 24 hours per week on an as-needed basis; Saturday availability and additional 2 weekdays availability required, Thursday preferred. At least one day a week for Late-night/Overnight availability is preferred. Hours for this position are varied based on business needs, with an expected range of shift hours: Morning hours from 5am -1pm, Afternoon/Evening 12pm- 12am & Late-night/Overnight 12am-6am) ART + AUDIENCE + LEARNING Located in Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario is one of the largest art museums in North America, attracting approximately one million visitors annually. Accountability: We own our actions and outcomes. We are currently seeking an Occasional Part-Time, Special Events Porter (Maintenance Worker I, F&B) to join our Food & Beverage team. Under the direction of the Manager, Events Operations & Services, F&B the incumbent will as directed, assist with event set ups and break downs utilizing AGO event equipment. As required, assists with event supplier deliveries. The rate of pay for this position is $22.59 - $28.25 per hour. What is this position responsible for? As directed, assists with event set ups, including room layout, staging, bar set ups, tables, chairs, relevant signage, and ancillary event equipment. Assists with “back of house” event service areas e.g. the placement of hot boxes, the cleaning of the banquet storeroom, general housekeeping, garbage removal. Performs other duties and projects as assigned. What are we looking for? Directly related experience doing event set ups within a similar event operation. Working knowledge of hospitality practices and procedures. Knowledge of quality event equipment within a “secure” institutional environment preferred.
