The Academic Expert Marker will provide academic assistance to students, mark assignments, and record final grades for the course. They are responsible for maintaining high academic standards and accurate student records while adhering to university service standards.

Job details

Athabasca University's Learning Services Tutorial Department is seeking an Academic Expert Marker for the following course: APST 455 Mechanical Equipment for Buildings: Link to Syllabus Qualifications and Experience Required: A minimum of a Master's degree required (PhD preferred) in architecture, engineering or related field (ex. building science, construction, etc.). A license as an architect or engineer would be an asset. English proficiency is a must. The successful candidate will have subject matter expertise and be responsible for providing academic assistance to students, for marking assignments, and for assigning and recording final grades. Teaching experience at a post-secondary level is required. Experience in distance learning and familiarity with digital teaching technologies and online course delivery is preferred. Experience with adult education and Brightspace online course delivery is considered an asset. Along with the relevant academic credentials as mentioned above, this position requires excellent communication, organizational, administration and online/computer skills. The successful candidate should have demonstrated ability to maintain a high academic standard, maintain accurate student records, and return students' work promptly and within the University's required service standards. Candidates must own or have access to a computer and internet with the capability to communicate with the University and students and the capability to run any applications required to perform tutorial support.
