Role Description The Cold-Formed Steel Designer is a part-time, remote role based in BC. This role involves designing CFS structural systems for building projects, preparing detailed drawings and models, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with architectural and structural requirements. The designer will use BIM tools and relevant software to develop accurate, buildable designs, perform structural checks and detailing, and support design-build integration throughout the project lifecycle. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with project managers, engineers, and fabrication teams, reviewing shop drawings, resolving design issues, and maintaining clear documentation to support predictable delivery and controlled risk. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong skills in structural design and analysis of Cold-Formed Steel systems, including familiarity with relevant building codes and standards. Candidates should possess skills in BIM-based modeling and coordination, with experience using tools such as Revit, Tekla, or comparable 3D design platforms. Candidates should possess skills in technical drafting and detailing, including creating clear construction documents, shop drawings, and specifications. Candidates should possess skills in project coordination and communication, working effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, and fabrication partners. Candidates should possess strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple design tasks and deadlines. Relevant qualifications include a diploma or degree in structural engineering, or a closely related field. Experience with integrated design-build delivery, CFS fabrication or installation, and urban mid-rise or high-rise projects is considered an asset. Ability to work on-site in BC, and collaborate in a multidisciplinary team environment is required.
