Key responsibilities include assessment (appropriateness for admission, and treatment needs), client history, developing treatment plans, documenting progress and activities of clients, supporting clients in accessing in house addiction programs and local resources, and contributing to the safe and efficient operation of the unit. Program Workers use a variety of principles, theory and practical applications to deliver addictions treatment services in support of the clients’ recovery process. Skills/Abilities/Qualifications Required Two-year post-secondary diploma in a Health or Human Services Program, complimented by addiction studies Recent experience in an addictions treatment or supportive treatment setting Extensive working knowledge of addictions treatment systems, concurrent disorders, self-help programs and related community resources Knowledge of the principles, theories and practical nature of substance abuse and the recovery process Ability to interact and engage clients in a positive and compassionate manner Ability to advocate and facilitate access to services and coordinate care to meet clients’ needs Ability to physically assist intoxicated clients Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team Strong self-management, initiative and accountability competencies Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality Ability to work all shifts including weekends and holidays Current certification in CPR and First Aid Current Certification in Food Handlers Certificate Computer skills including Word, Outlook, and Internet-based applications Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records Demonstrate, promote and encourage Brightshores’ values – We Show Up for Each Other, We Are Trusted to Act, We Create Solutions Together, We Strive for Better, We Share Accountability Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes Comply with all applicable health and safety policies, procedures and regulations, and actively contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
