Categories: Clerical / Administration Location(s): Owen Sound Types: Part Time POSITION TITLE: SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR DEPARTMENT: SWITCHBOARD POSITION LOCATION: OWEN SOUND UNION AFFILIATION: OPSEU – CLERICAL STATUS: PART-TIME REASON TO POST: DIRECT REPLACEMENT WAGE RATE: $25.900 – $27.915 Reporting to the Manager, Registration and Switchboard, the Switchboard Operator is responsible for answering and directing incoming telephone calls to the Brightshores hospitals. Duties include but are not limited to: all paging services (overhead and Spok Messenger); parking lot(s) entry and exit gates; visitor information. This position also responds to contingency codes and alarms, monitors alarms, and various clerical duties as assigned. This position is required to work all shifts 24/7. Required Qualifications / Skills / Abilities: High School Diploma and relevant business office experience and/or equivalent business education Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Attention to detail and accuracy Patient-service focused Ability to multi-task Availability to work all shifts Experience working on a switchboard preferred Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Word (to be tested) Typing speed of 30 wpm (to be tested) Ability to understand verbal and written instructions Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records Demonstrate, promote and encourage Brightshores’ values – We Show Up for Each Other, We Are Trusted to Act, We Create Solutions Together, We Strive for Better, We Share Accountability Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes Comply with all applicable health and safety policies, procedures and regulations, and actively contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment

Requirements
Requires a high school diploma and relevant business office experience, equivalent business education, or both; switchboard experience is preferred. Candidates need strong communication and interpersonal skills, accuracy, multitasking ability, availability for all shifts, Microsoft Word proficiency, typing speed of 30 words per minute, and a commitment to patient safety and workplace safety.
