THE POSITION The First Line Cook is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations of the kitchen suites team in an environment that mixes banquet and line cooking together including bulk preparation and fast pate firing. The role requires a strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards and protocols as this role will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES * Daily cooking and preparation of food using multiple cooking techniques; * Prepare hot plates, cold plates, sauces; * Perform a variety of butchering tasks such as trimming roasts, cutting ribs, chicken, etc.; * Ensure proper storage, handling, and use of food inventories; * Maintain a high standard of safety and sanitation as governed by standards and protocols; * Communicate with kitchen staff, cooks, Suites Chefs, and the executive chef; * Follow instructions as directed by supervisors, Suites chef, and the executive chef; * Work with other departments and needed * Actively participate in safety programs and follow polices; * Assist in all areas of the kitchen as required; * Actively participate in safety programs and follow polices; * Assist in all areas of the kitchen as required; * Other duties as required. THE INDIVIDUAL The ideal individual will have the following background: * 5+ years restaurant or hotel cook experience required; * Strong leadership and mentoring skills; * High attention to detail and strong ability to maintain an organized kitchen; * Vast knowledge of kitchen terminology; * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once; * Strong interpersonal and team work skills. CERTIFICATIONS * Formal culinary training is considered an asset; * High school diploma is considered an asset. This position will remain open until suitable candidates are found.
