The Role: Canco is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Kitchen Assistant to assist with daily food preparation and kitchen operations at our production facility. This role plays a key part in ensuring high-quality products are prepared efficiently and meet food safety standards. This position is ideal for early risers, with shifts starting at approximately 5:00 AM and ending between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM, five days per week. Daily Duties and Responsibilities: * Prepare food items according to established recipes and production schedules * Assist with portioning, labeling, and packaging products for store distribution * Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations and equipment * Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards in compliance with provincial regulations and company policies * Support timely production to meet daily order requirements * Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and notify supervisors of shortages * Assist with receiving and storing deliveries properly (FIFO practices) * Operate basic kitchen equipment safely and efficiently * Participate in daily cleaning tasks, including dishwashing and sanitization * Work collaboratively with kitchen team members to ensure smooth operations * Perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Supervisor or Manager What You Bring: * Previous kitchen or food preparation experience is an asset (not required) * Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working early morning shifts * Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices * Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light-to-moderate lifting * Food Safe Certification (or willingness to obtain) is preferred What We Offer: * Consistent part-time schedule (5 days per week, early mornings) * Supportive team environment * Opportunity to grow within a fast-growing Canadian company * Hands-on training and development
