POSTING TYPE: External POSITION TYPE: Part-time, Regular HOURS OF WORK: Part-time SCHEDULES: 10 to 20 hours per week, schedule as per available line DEPARTMENT Recreation and Culture HOURLY RATE $32.55 per hour, Schedule “B” Outside Employees, Aquatics ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION * Grade 12 Diploma or GED LICENSES / CERTIFICATES * National Lifeguard Award – Pool * Standard First Aid with CPR “C” * Lifesaving Instructor (LSI) * Aquafit Instructor * AED Certification EXPERIENCE * Sound knowledge and/or experience in lifeguarding/instruction duties and teaching methods/group leadership techniques with emphasis on water safety instruction and aquatic skills * Knowledge and/or experience in performing pool operation and maintenance SPECIFIC SKILLS * Sound knowledge of theory and practice, lifeguarding, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid * Working knowledge of Pool Chemistry * Ability to prepare facility related records and reports * Ability to work with minimal supervision SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS * Initiative, sound judgement, positive and responsive when dealing with the public, user groups and staff * Ability to maintain confidentiality * Inquisitive and ability to ask questions * Effective listener * Police Information Check CLOSING DATE: Open until filled

Requirements

Requires a Grade 12 diploma and certifications including National Lifeguard, Standard First Aid, LSI, and Aquafit. Candidates must have experience in aquatic instruction and pool maintenance, along with a Police Information Check.
