JOIN OUR TEAM AS A CASUAL DETENTION GUARD Location: Fort St. James Detachment Shift Times: Will be on a as needed basis - Days, Evenings, and Overnights Pay Rate: Starting at $22/hr Position Summary Commissionaires BC is seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our team as a Casual Detention Guard at the Fort St James RCMP detachment. Under the guidance of the RCMP Members responsible for Cell Block Operations, you will be entrusted with the safety and well-being of persons in custody, along with other key duties. Important: Applicants must reside within a 60-minute drive of the detachment. Duties and Responsibilities Surveillance: Regularly observe and check prisoners, including monitoring via CCTV. Assistance: Aid RCMP members as required and manage meal organization. Record Keeping: Maintain a detailed prisoner activity logbook. Cell Maintenance: Ensure cleanliness of cells and conduct searches before and after occupation, reporting any damage. Security: Maintain cellblock security, ensuring cell doors are always locked and personal effects are secured. Fire Safety: Monitor and adhere to fire safety protocols. Medical and Laundry: Handle and dispense approved medications and laundry items under direction of RCMP members. Miscellaneous: Perform additional duties as required by the detachment. Qualifications Age Requirement: Must be 19 years or older. Certification: Valid Basic First Aid certificate or willingness to complete prior to hiring. Clearance: Ability to obtain RCMP Reliability Clearance (4-6+ months process). Language: Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking). Vision: Meet RCMP-V4 visual standards (eyeglasses permitted). Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 20 kg, bend, and climb stairs. Skills: Ability to remain calm under stress, work independently, and be discreet.
