Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating in the delivery of holistic care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN practices to full scope, applying professional nursing knowledge, clinical judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills to support safe care and positive health outcomes. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Additional Required Qualifications: 1 year of recent (within 2 years) adult acute care experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong team work and interpersonal skills. Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent assessment and organizational skills. A recent successful preceptorship in orthopaedic/surgery may be considered (within the last 2 years). Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter training and experience. Negative pressure wound therapy education an asset. Inpatient Connect Care trained.

Requirements

Applicants must graduate from a practical nursing program or equivalent, hold active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta, and have Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Level C certification. At least one year of recent adult acute care experience is required, along with strong assessment, communication, teamwork, organizational, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills; recent orthopaedic or surgical experience is preferred.
