Job summary
Location: Fully remote (Canada) Duration: Milestone-based freelance contract Overview An organization working with very large volumes of imagery, video, and audio is building a next-generation platform to help its experts make sense of it all. The platform is a modular, multimodal AI system that performs first-pass analysis automatically — computer vision on imagery and video, speech-to-text on audio, and language models for summarization and metadata — then hands findings to human experts who review, correct, and approve before anything is finalized. This is a software architecture, integration, data-engineering, application, and secure-deployment effort that assembles best-in-class existing AI services into one robust production platform. You will own the path from commit to secure, containerized production and carry the security bar for a platform handling sensitive data. Key Responsibilities Build CI/CD and containerized components (Docker/Kubernetes) that stay portable across approved cloud environments Implement authentication, authorization, encryption in transit and at rest, secrets management, and audit logging to a high standard Establish observability — logging, monitoring, metrics, and health — that makes operations and troubleshooting easy Deliver secure, repeatable deployments, working with the Lead Architect to map security and compliance requirements into the build Required Qualifications 6+ years in DevOps/cloud with a clear security focus (SecDevOps) Demonstrated delivery of secure, containerized, cloud-native deployments on AWS, Azure, or GCP Hands-on IAM, encryption, secrets management, and audit/logging in production Experience meeting formal security or compliance frameworks on a real project Prior comparable secure deployments, with references Preferred Qualifications Compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST) Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and policy-as-code Accessibility/security validation tooling Experience delivering complex software systems for government or regulated industries Work Location & Requirements Fully remote position Must be based in Canada and able to contract as an independent professional Freelance / independent contractor engagement (not employment) Selection includes a review of background and past work, followed by a short technical assessment / coding exercise Application requires CV and a short note on the most comparable system delivered, including links, case studies, or references
