Job details

Company Description DBT Virtual is a team of therapists with advanced training, expertise, and commitment to delivering adherent Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). We provide individual therapy, phone coaching, skills groups and have a consultation team. Clinicians work with a wide range of concerns related to emotion dysregulation, including anxiety, depression, aggression, borderline personality disorder, PTSD, substance use, self-harm, and suicidal behavior. DBT Virtual makes it easier for people across Ontario, Alberta, and Nova Scotia to access DBT-specialized care, and we are in the process of expanding to a hybrid model with in-person options to promote greater access to DBT services across Canada. Role Description We are looking for DBT therapists to join a growing hybrid (online/in-person) private practice clinic. We specialize in providing Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and offer our clients individual therapy, phone coaching and skills groups. We are seeking therapists who have extensive training, experience and/or certification in DBT. We provide our new clinicians with 40+ hours of additional training to promote DBT adherence, along with regular consultation to support your practice. Experience working in complex mental health and/or in a hospital or psychiatric settings is preferred. We are looking for therapists with daytime and/or evening weekday and/or weekend availability (approximately 10+ hours/week) and that can deliver in-person services in the Oshawa/Durham Region area. The position will also include virtual services. We provide ongoing referrals and the clients we work with typically participate in six months of weekly DBT sessions. We are primarily seeking therapists with availability for individual, couples and/or family therapy with adults and/or adolescents. Successful candidates must have registration with a regulatory body (e.g. OCSWSSW, CRPO, CPBAO), professional liability insurance and have Masters or Ph.D level education. Registration to practice in multiple provinces is considered an asset. Minimal or no prior experience or training in DBT is not suitable for this position. Please include your resume when applying. Qualifications Formal training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (e.g., workshops, intensives, supervised practice) and demonstrated ability to apply DBT principles in clinical settings with adherence. Relevant professional registration or licensure in Ontario (e.g., Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Social Worker, Registered Psychologist) in good standing. Available for in-person services in the Oshawa/Durham Region area. Experience conducting comprehensive psychosocial assessments, developing evidence-based treatment plans, and providing individual, couples, family and/or group therapy. Strong skills in managing risk related to self-harm, suicidal ideation, and crisis situations, with adherence to ethical and legal requirements. Excellent communication and documentation skills, including clear clinical note-taking and collaborative communication with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to maintain professional boundaries, engage clients with empathy and respect, and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Comfort with using technology for clinical documentation and coordination of care; experience with virtual care platforms is an asset. Prior experience working with emotion dysregulation, personality disorders, trauma and/or complex clinical presentations is strongly preferred. Commitment to ongoing professional development, supervision, and participation in DBT consultation teams. Master’s or Ph.D education in psychology, social work, counselling, or a related mental health discipline (or equivalent combination of education and supervised clinical experience). Must provide a police check before starting. Want to help us expand in another area? Get in touch! Have questions? Email us at info@dbtvirtual.com.
