Etobicoke Vision Centre is a rapidly growing optometry clinic located inside Costco NW Toronto. We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented, customer-focused Optometric Assistant / Receptionist to join our team. The successful candidate will play an important role in providing exceptional patient care while supporting the day-to-day operations of our modern optometry practice. Schedule: The position follows a rotating schedule: Alternate Mondays: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Every week: Wednesday: 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Thursday: 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday: 9:15 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Saturday: 8:45 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This schedule provides: 30 hours during four-day work weeks 38 hours during five-day work weeks Additional weekday shifts may occasionally be available to cover vacations or absences of other team members. Etobicoke Vision Centre is a modern, fully paperless clinic using OD Office Pro electronic medical records. We are a non-dispensing practice, meaning we provide comprehensive eye examination services only. We do not sell glasses, contact lenses, eye drops, or nutraceuticals, allowing our team to focus entirely on delivering outstanding patient care. To learn more about our clinic, please visit www.etobicokevisioncentre.com. Responsibilities Welcome patients and visitors in a warm, friendly, and professional manner. Assist with patient check-in and check-out. Schedule appointments and manage the daily appointment book. Process payments, verify OHIP eligibility, and submit direct billing to private insurance providers. Perform pre-testing, case history, retinal imaging including: Assist the optometrist during examinations and procedures. Answer telephone calls, respond to emails, and manage correspondence with referring doctors and other healthcare providers. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception area and examination rooms. Qualifications Previous experience in an optometry, ophthalmology, or healthcare setting is strongly preferred but not required. Candidates without optometric experience must demonstrate a strong ability to learn quickly. Knowledge of optometric or medical terminology is an asset. Experience with electronic medical records (particularly OD Office Pro) is an asset. Strong computer skills and comfort learning new software are essential. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine commitment to patient care. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Previous customer service experience is required. Compensation & Benefits: $22.00–$25.00 per hour, based on relevant experience. Monthly performance bonus based on clinic revenue.
