About Flying Minds Flying Minds Education Centre provides academic support, mentorship, and meaningful learning experiences for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. We help students build confidence, strengthen their academic skills, and grow in a positive, encouraging, and supportive environment. Position Summary We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic part-time English Language Arts Teacher to support students in Grades 1–12. The successful candidate will provide engaging, individualized instruction in reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, literary analysis, and oral communication. A strong working knowledge of the Alberta English Language Arts curriculum is essential. Retired Alberta teachers are warmly encouraged to apply. Recent graduates with relevant education or teaching experience are also welcome. Key Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English Language Arts lessons tailored to individual student needs Support students from Grades 1–12 in reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, literary analysis, and oral communication Help students complete school assignments and prepare for writing tasks, assessments, and exams Support high school students with diploma-level English Language Arts work Use a variety of teaching methods, materials, and educational resources Adapt instruction for different learning styles, abilities, and academic levels Create a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment Assess student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback Maintain accurate attendance, progress, and assessment records Collaborate with colleagues on student learning plans and instructional strategies Communicate professionally with students, parents, and staff regarding progress or concerns Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field preferred Alberta teaching certification or relevant teaching experience is an asset Strong working knowledge of the Alberta English Language Arts curriculum is required Familiarity with Alberta curriculum expectations across elementary, junior high, and high school levels Strong knowledge of literature, writing instruction, grammar, and reading comprehension Ability to support school-based assessments, written assignments, provincial expectations, and diploma-level English work Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong interpersonal and classroom-management skills Ability to adapt instruction to support diverse learners Familiarity with educational technology and digital learning resources is an asset Experience working with children or teenagers in an educational setting is preferred Why Join Flying Minds?
