The Registered Practical Nurse participates in providing peri-operative nursing care in accordance with the job description and competencies for Registered Practical Nurses in the Operating Room at Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation Qualifications 1. Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse 2. Graduate of an approved Operating Room Technician program 3. Current Certificates in Medication Administration, Enteral Nutrition Via Gastrostomy Tube, Urinary Bladder Catheterization, Transcription of Physicians Orders, Advanced Wound Care and Airway Management, or has completed equivalent community college studies 4. Current Heart and Stroke Foundation course in CPR or equivalent 5. Recent (2 years) relevant Operating Room experience in a tertiary care facility - adult and pediatric 6. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills 7. Demonstrates commitment to the principles of professional practice 8. Demonstrates judgment in carrying out his or her role or function and is responsible and accountable for acting on the interpretation of data 9. Demonstrates critical-thinking and decision-making in assessment and problem identifications 10. Demonstrates ongoing personal professional education and development
