Maintenance Technician - Fairfield Inn & Suites By Marriott Kelowna! Exciting news! A fantastic job opportunity to be a Maintenance Technician has just opened up in Kelowna at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Kelowna! The Maintenance technician is a friendly technician whose responsibilities will be to make sure all the equipment in the hotel is taken care of. In this role, they must have a solid understanding of plumbing and electrical systems, as well as carpentry, and maintaining pool systems. They must have excellent attention to detail, is skilled in problem resolution, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Hours of work are flexible, and creative scheduling can accommodated for this Seasonal, part-time role. The successful candidate should be focused on providing professional service and creating a memorable stay through personalized guest experiences. We’re looking for individuals who want to help shape the guest experience in a brand-new environment and who are ensuring the hotel is well cared for and adequate to support the company’s business operations. Job Requirements: * Maintain the physical facilities through Marriotts structured program of preventive maintenance and repair * Ensure pool & hot tub chemistry and temperature is in accordance with current health department standards and tracked * Ensures the safety and security of the hotel grounds and building * Maintains the hotel grounds and landscaping in a neat and attractive manner * Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation * Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues * Check electrical and hydraulic systems of buildings to ensure functionality * Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities * Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary * Monitor expenses and control the budget for maintenance * Manage relationships with contractors and service providers * Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities * In winter months, ensure timely snow removal and the safety of walkways and parking lots Qualifications and Education Requirements: * Experience in planning maintenance operations * Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems etc. * Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment * Ability to keep track of and report on activity * High school diploma or equivalent; Degree from a vocational school or BSc/BA in business administration or facility management will be an advantage Preferred Skills: * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities * Extremely detail-oriented * Exceptional analytical skills needed for critical decision-making * Excellent time-management skills * Excellent technical expertise What we offer: * Competitive starting wages * Extended Health and Dental Benefits, & Work Perks * On the job training and uniforms are provided. * A collaborative team environment with potential to grow within the organization * Leadership team that fosters a positive work culture, who will support you rather than boss you * Regular team functions, Monthly employee appreciation celebrations to celebrate our most valuable assets (our people), and an associate breakroom with Free Coffee/Tea * Marriott Employee Room Discounts and Employee Discounts on F&B are available when you travel to any one of our 9000 hotel destinations worldwide
