Job summary

International Urban Planning Olympiad (IUPO) Remote | Volunteer, Founding Team | Estimated 5-8 hours per week About the Role The Director of Partnerships leads IUPO’s external relationships, responsible for recruiting the professional judges who evaluate student work and securing sponsorships that support the organization’s growth. This is a senior leadership position on our founding team, reporting directly to the Executive Director. Responsibilities • Identify and recruit qualified judges, including urban planners, civil engineers, municipal officials, and academics, to evaluate competition submissions • Manage judge communications, including outreach, onboarding, and scheduling for both the general scoring period and the live finals round • Identify and pitch potential sponsors, including local businesses, planning firms, and civic organizations • Represent IUPO professionally in outreach to external individuals and organizations • Track outreach efforts and maintain organized records of prospects, responses, and commitments Qualifications • Genuine interest in urban planning, civic engagement, or nonprofit development • Comfortable initiating outreach to professionals and organizations, including cold outreach • Strong organizational skills and follow-through • Professional written communication skills • No prior fundraising or recruitment experience required; we value persistence and professionalism over credentials What You’ll Gain • A founding leadership title with a growing international nonprofit • Real experience in outreach, partnership development, and fundraising • Direct mentorship from the Executive Director • A meaningful addition to a resume or college application • The opportunity to build the external relationships that make the competition possible
