TITLE: Cafeteria Worker-Warewasher - 20 HoursDEPARTMENT: Prince George Secondary School REPORTS TO: Cafeteria Manager (functionally) Principal (administratively)WAGE: $25.71 - $26.98 hourly wage effective July 1, 2024 SUMMARY: Under close supervision the Cafeteria Worker (Warewasher) is responsible for warewashing and general cleanup of the cafeteria kitchen and cafeteria equipment and for assisting in kitchen food preparation, catering services and ordering of supplies. The Cafeteria Worker (Warewasher) may also operate the cafeteria cash register. He/she works cooperatively with other staff, students and the public. DUTIES: •Operates cash register. •Assists in kitchen food preparation, catering services and ordering of supplies as required. •Sorts items for washing. •Cleans porcelain, glass, silverware, pots and other on a daily basis. •Operates dishwasher and other kitchen equipment as directed. •Maintains a safe, clean working area. •Assists with the unpacking and storage of food stuffs. •Helps to direct students in kitchen activities related to dishwashing and food preparation. •Assists counter clerks with counter service when required. •Performs other food service functions or emergent duties. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, SKILLS: •Three months basic food services training from high school, college, or work experience. •Experience in counter-cashier or related activities. •Ability to perform basic food services functions including good basic physical health. •British Columbia Food Safe Certification. •Knowledge of the SuperHost Program and front of the house operation would be an asset. •Ability to use courtesy and tact in the explanation of a discussion of information in contacts with public, parents, staff and students. •Ability to perform individually and as part of a team. •Ability to effectively communicate verbally. •Ability to plan and schedule work and organize the workload effectively. •Ability to work with constant interruptions. •Must enjoy working with high school aged students. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:Kitchen utensils, kitchen dish washing and related equipment, cash register. PHYSICAL ABILITIES: •Sufficient vision to operate cash register. •Fundamental ability to operate kitchen equipment. •Manual dexterity. •Ability to lift and move materials and equipment up to 40 pounds.
