Civil Engineering Expert Position: Civil Engineering Expert Type: Hourly Contract Compensation: $70–$110/hour Location: Remote About the Opportunity Mercor is seeking experienced civil engineering professionals to contribute to advanced AI evaluation and training projects. This role involves applying real-world engineering expertise to develop complex engineering scenarios, evaluate AI-generated outputs, and help improve the reasoning capabilities of next-generation AI systems. Ideal Candidates 5+ years of professional experience in civil engineering, infrastructure, construction, transportation, structural, geotechnical, or water resources engineering. Experience working on large-scale engineering projects, design reviews, or regulatory compliance processes. Strong understanding of engineering standards, design methodologies, and industry best practices. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills. Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification is a plus. Key Responsibilities Design realistic civil engineering scenarios based on industry workflows and project requirements. Develop reference solutions, technical analyses, and evaluation criteria. Review and assess AI-generated engineering outputs for accuracy, completeness, and technical quality. Apply engineering judgment to identify errors, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with researchers and subject-matter experts to maintain high evaluation standards. Contribute high-quality training and evaluation data to improve advanced AI systems.
