Job summary

Job Description Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, Integrated Stroke Unit, the Activity Aide will create and implement engaging activities tailored to the unique interests and abilities of each individual building meaningful relationships and sense of belonging, dignity and purpose for our patients. Contributed To Safe, Quality Care By Planning, organization and implementation of meaningful activities. Prepare the daily activities providing physical, cognitive and emotional stimulation. Maintain accurate records of activities and patient involvement in accordance with departmental guidelines. Provide regular updates on patient participation and feedback to the interprofessional team. Foster social interaction among patients by leading designated activities or special events. Assist new patients in getting acquainted with the facility and its activities, facilitating introductions to other patients, and encouraging conversation and social engagement among them. What must you have? Certificate or Diploma from a recognized recreation program, leisure studies, gerontology or health-care related program. Current certificate of Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required. What else do you bring? 1 to 3 years of recent experience in recreation or leisure activities. Stroke experience focus with expertise in rehab preferred. Recent experience in volunteer programs and/or working with volunteers. Interpersonal, listening, and verbal and written communication skills in English, with an ability to deliver information and work effectively with patients, families and colleagues. Ability to engage with patients with varying physical, communication and cognitive abilities. Requirements
