Role At Making Waves Swim School, our Head Coaches are the leaders on deck. They keep lessons running smoothly, support coaches in the moment, connect with families, and help create a safe, fun, and high-quality swim experience. This role is perfect for someone who loves teaching, enjoys helping others grow, and can bring calm, confident energy to a busy pool deck. What You’ll Be Doing Leading the pool deck and helping each shift run smoothly Supporting coaches with lesson quality, swimmer progress, and class flow Teaching swimmers using our proven Small Steps approach Ensuring Making Waves lesson plans and teaching standards are followed Providing encouragement, guidance, and feedback to coaches Engaging with swimmers and celebrating their progress Communicating with families professionally and warmly Supporting Day 1, Feedback Day, and Evaluation Day conversations Monitoring deck safety, class needs, and swimmer experience Helping organize master sheets, skill tracking, notes, and level updates Communicating staff, swimmer, or family concerns to the Supervisor or Facility Manager Supporting emergency procedures and keeping the pool deck safe, tidy, and ready for lessons What We Offer Warm pools, approximately 90°F Small class sizes, up to 3 swimmers per class Hands-on teaching methods that drive strong progress Leadership experience in a fun, people-focused environment Growth opportunities across the company A team environment where effort gets noticed The chance to support swimmers, families, and coaches every shift What We’re Looking For Positive, confident communicator Strong leadership skills and the ability to support a team Reliable, organized, and team-oriented Great with children, families, and staff Service-oriented with a genuine desire to help others Energetic, engaged, and visible on deck Calm under pressure and able to problem-solve in the moment Coachable and eager to keep improving Comfortable giving feedback and helping others succeed Able to work 2 or more shifts per week Our team is strongest when it reflects the communities we serve.
