ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide one-on-one or small group support for students with diverse learning needs. Assist in implementing Individualized Program Plans (IPPs). Support teachers with classroom management and instructional activities. Encourage student participation and foster a positive, inclusive learning environment. Monitor student progress and communicate observations to teachers and specialists. Build positive and productive relationships with students, parents/guardians, staff, and community members to support student success. Promote and maintain inclusive learning environments where students are welcomed, respected, and supported. Support cultural learning by promoting knowledge of Mikisew Cree First Nation, Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation, and Métis history, culture, and traditions. Participate in community activities, land-based learning opportunities, field trips, and other educational programming. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Experience working with youth in an educational, childcare, or community setting. Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Familiarity with special education practices and student support strategies is considered an asset. Knowledge of Woodland Cree and/or Dene culture and experience working within Indigenous communities is considered an asset. Other Requirements Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism when working with students, families, and staff. Commitment to creating safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environments. Willingness to participate in school, cultural, and community events as required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is primarily performed within a secondary school environment in Fort Chipewyan, Alberta. Regular interaction with students requiring academic, behavioural, and emotional support. May be required to support outdoor education, land-based learning activities, field trips, and community events. Requires flexibility, patience, and the ability to adapt to changing student and classroom needs.
