HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE Plan for and develop materials for instruction in class. Carry out instructional duties and deliver instruction in class, lab, and clinical settings. Demonstrate professional conduct and attitudes, maintaining a facilitative and supportive learning environment. Adhere to health and safety, program, and college policies and procedures. Adapt the physical environment to establish an effective climate to support learning. Provide formative and summative feedback to learners in compliance with college and program policies. Provide initial skill demonstrations, supervise skill practice, and assess skills for competency using Health Care Aide curriculum materials. Plan, modify, and implement individual educational plans. Attend case conferences for students. Input grades in PeopleSoft. Maintain appropriate program and student records/reports of student progress in classroom, lab and, clinical settings. Develop knowledge and skills through participation in courses, workshops, professional meetings, interaction with colleagues, and through independent study of current literature. Implement Learning Improvement Plan after consultation with Program Chair or Associate Chair. Provide clinical oversight in SL and LTC settings following Clinical Instruction Guide. Make initial contact with facility after receiving notification from Chair or Associate Chair prior to students’ first day. Arrange student orientation to clinical setting. Assign clients to students to meet expected program outcomes. Maintain student progress notes throughout clinical. Comply with appropriate filing and documentation practices following College policies and provincial legislation. Assess students based on the GLOs, SLOs, and Health Care Aide Curriculum for clinical practicum. Maintain all required certifications as required for the registration of your professional designation. WHAT YOU BRING Designation as an RN (with active registration with CRNA) or LPN (with active registration with CLPNA) with no conditions in Alberta is required. Three years of full-time experience in clinical nursing and/or nursing education is preferred, including at least one year of clinical nursing or nursing education experience in Canada. A bachelor’s degree in nursing or health related field is preferred. If your education was received internationally we recommend you obtain an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations. Anyone with LPN designation would need 1 year minimum of adult teaching experience required OR completion of a bachelor’s degree in education OR completion of an adult teaching/learning program. In the Health Care Aid program, we ask that you commit to between 2 to 4 weeks full-time to take students out to clinical placements (Monday to Friday rotating days and evenings) at least twice in an academic term. There is a possibility of occasional Saturday and evening shifts. Travel is required for clinical/practicum and some instances lab instruction. WHAT MAKES YOU A DIFFERENCE MAKER? Passionate about Nursing and teaching technical skills to individuals interested in joining the Health Care industry. Previous formal or informal teaching experience is an asset. Compensation: HCA Lab Course or HCA Clinical Course are 2 to 5-credit courses that are compensated at a course casual rate per credit. An additional 11.2% is paid in lieu of benefits and vacation.
