The Professional Practice Officer (the Officer) reports to the Executive Director/Registrar. The primary responsibility of the Officer is to ensure compliance of members with the terms and conditions of their licenses and permits. Responsibilities The Officer must work within the framework of the PEGASTA and the policies and bylaws of the Association. 1. Supports the Professional Practice and M&E Committees in proactively managing the compliance of individuals and organizations practicing engineering and geoscience in the NWT and NU with the PEGASTA. 2. Leads the enforcement of cases of non-compliance with the PEGASTA or manages investigations of professional misconduct and incompetence. 3. Provides leadership in establishing standards of professional practice. 4. Leads legislative, regulation and regulatory policy changes. Qualifications An undergraduate degree in Earth Sciences or Engineering with at least four years of professional practice experience in engineering or geoscience following professional registration, preferably with experience in the Canadian North. Assets include experience in a regulatory enforcement work environment. A satisfactory criminal records check. Have a P.Eng. or P.Geo. designation from a Canadian province or territory and be eligible for NAPEG registration.

Requirements
Requires an undergraduate degree in Earth Sciences or Engineering and at least four years of professional practice experience after professional registration. Applicants must hold a Canadian P.Eng. or P.Geo. designation and be eligible for NAPEG registration; northern experience and regulatory enforcement experience are assets, and a satisfactory criminal records check is required.
