The successful candidate will be responsible for both clerical and reception duties. Responsibilities will include: Reception duties and telephone communication in this very sensitive and complex area including monitoring the patient call bell system Providing information related to patient care as authorized by the clinical manager or her delegate Recording, organizing, inputting and filing of physician orders in the computer Assisting the facilitating nurse and self scheduling facilitator with ongoing staffing issues Filing patient reports Coordinating the replacement of staff for sick calls Ordering of supplies Monitoring and assessing IT support computer equipment Participating in special projects as requested The unit secretary works under the direction of the Patient Care Manager and/or her delegate and in cooperation with the facilitating nurse. What you bring to the role: Previous unit secretary experience Sound knowledge of medical terminology Proficient computer and typing skills Strong customer service, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills Ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands in a fast pace environment Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills with a high attention to detail Excellent organizational skills Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independently Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required Work Schedule: D8 Mon-Sun, stats Please note schedules may change due to operational needs.
