JOB DESCRIPTION Ontario Shores is seeking a Registered Nurse. As an RN, you will provide specialized care to patients with complex mental illnesses using a recovery focused model of care built upon compassion, inspiration and hope. RNs will engage in a leadership role and to be an active and equal member of the inter-professional team. RNs are expected to perform Charge nurse responsibilities and may be given the opportunity to apply to the Patient Care Facilitator role. Please Note: Although the posted vacancy is to work within Adolescent Eating Disorder Unit, all Registered Nurses must have the ability to work in any area of Ontario Shores as patients’ needs dictate. Requirements: • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing. • BScN preferred. • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support • Current CPR – HCP (Health Care Provider) • Demonstrated knowledge of College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the CNO. • Basic knowledge of psychopharmacological interventions and psychiatric disorders within an adolescent population is preferred. • Knowledge of psychopharmacological interventions and psychiatric disorders within an adolescent population. • Experience with adolescent assessment and treatment modalities. • Experience in Eating Disorders is an asset. • Experience in crisis and suicide intervention. • Excellent interpersonal communication and documentation skills. • Evidence of strong professional boundaries. • Demonstrated working knowledge/experience with computers. • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within an inter-professional team environment. • Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations. • Demonstrated excellent organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution and critical hiking abilities. • Knowledge, experience, and skills in participating in community integration activities with adolescents with psychiatric illness. • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in such roles as charge nurse, group co-facilitation, and preceptorship. • Ability to provide health teaching to parents/families. • Ability to perform the physical demands of the position. • Proven good attendance record with the capability of maintaining this same standard. • Must be able work shifts. • CNA certification in psychiatric/mental health nursing is considered an asset. It is highly encouraged that staff complete the CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing within five years of hire date. • The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language is an asset. Requirements

Must be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario and hold current BCLS and CPR-HCP certifications. Experience in adolescent assessment, crisis intervention, and psychiatric nursing is preferred, along with a BScN degree.
