Oxford Learning Cambridge Hespeler is looking for an upbeat, reliable, enthusiastic, dynamic part-time High School Math Teacher who wants to work in a rewarding teaching environment. Candidates must possess a strong background in Math and must be comfortable teaching students in Grades 11–12 at all levels. Upbeat math instructors must be comfortable teaching advanced functions, calculus and data management. We are currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas. Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning do not need to plan lessons before class, sessions are student led based on their specific questions/needs. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods. Position Requirements All Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work after school and in the evenings (5:00pm - 8:00pm), however, earlier availability is desireable. We prefer a commitment through the end of the school year. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must. This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory. We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements: Education Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field Third year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered Teaching certification is an asset Strong knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math curriculum, particularly senior math, including but not limited to Functions 11, Advanced Functions 12, algebra, trigonometry and calculus, including vectors. Experience Desired Some experience teaching/tutoring math at a Grade 11-12 (or equivalent) level Strong English written and oral communication skills Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time Knowledge of science subjects is a bonus (e.g., physics, chemistry). Responsibilities (Position Details) You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities: Teaching up to 2 students at a time at different levels Teaching in-person Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies Filling in post-lesson notes Completing daily student communication updates Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times Building Self-Esteem Role In this position, you will play a key role in helping students develop their self-confidence and self-esteem.
