OYA Black Arts Coalition (OBAC)

OYA Black Arts Coalition (OBAC) is a Canadian nonprofit and charity building pathways to employment, creative ownership, and business growth and innovation for Black professionals in the media and entertainment sector since 2018. Founded in 2018 by award-winning filmmakers Alison Duke and Ngardy Conteh George (OYA Media Group), OBAC transforms employment, creative, and entrepreneurial outcomes for Black professionals—from early career to emerging—through access to training, mentorship, industry connections, and creative development support. With over 400 alumni and growing partnerships across the sector, OBAC is building a vibrant, equitable creative ecosystem where Black stories, leadership, and entrepreneurship thrive. Programs include: Emerging Filmmakers, Career Leap (workforce development), Career Bridge (IP and portfolio development), Scale Up Initiative (Business Bootcamp, Immersive, Masterclass, Market Access) and more. Major funders include the Government of Ontario (Black Youth Action Plan), Federal Economic Development Agency of Southern Ontario, Canada Media Fund, Ontario Creates and the City of Toronto.
