Job summary
Position Department: Football Position Type: Staff Part-Time Overview: RMU Athletics is looking for a Part-Time Assistant Football Coach. This is a part-time not benefit eligible position limited to 950 hours in a calendar year and generally no more than 29 hours per week on a regular basis. Responsibilities: * This role focuses on the technical development and tactical execution of a specific position group, designing and leading structured drill work during practices, and contributing to game-day strategy. * The coach will assist with film breakdown, opponent scouting, and the identification and recruitment of high-caliber student-athletes who align with the academic and athletic standards of the institution. * Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree Required * Minimum of 1–2 years of coaching experience at the high school varsity level or higher, OR 2–4 years of experience as a student-athlete at the collegiate level. * Proven experience coaching a specific position group (e.g., Defensive Backs, Offensive Line). * Demonstrated success in recruiting student-athletes within the region. * Must possess an advanced knowledge of modern football schemes, position-specific techniques, and player safety protocols, combined with a strict commitment to NCAA and conference compliance regulations. Exceptional skills in utilizing digital film software (such as Hudl or Catapult) for opponent scouting and practice breakdown are required, alongside strong talent evaluation skills for regional recruiting. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with and mentor a diverse student-athlete population, fostering both athletic development and academic accountability. Additionally, the role demands high-stress adaptability on game days and the flexibility to work a demanding, non-traditional schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekends throughout the football season.
