Job summary
THE PART WE'RE CASTING The Bar Manager plays a key operational and guest-facing role at the Segal Centre. The Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day function of the Lobby and Art Lounge bars at the Segal Centre. This role contributes to the organization's mission by creating a safe and welcoming environment for our artists and guests. They work closely with Production, Development, and Front of House to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
What you’ll do
YOUR ROLE IN THE PRODUCTION a) Hospitality and Events Prepare and serve drinks to patrons and VIP guests. Track inventory and keep clear records for Front of House (FOH). Ensure proper preparation and communication among bar staff. Set up and strike bar stations; ensure consistent cleanliness and visual presentation Ensure proper points of service are maintained at all times. Maintain the Lobby and Art lounge bars, stock rooms, and fridges. b) Budgeting and Administrative Oversight Track petty cash, submit receipts, and prepare expense reports and reconciliations. Monitor stock levels and submit restocking and maintenance requests as needed. Generate weekly bar revenue summaries and event debriefs where appropriate. Support invoice preparation and documentation for internal and external events. c) Teams and Collaboration Report directly to the Front of House Manager, who provides shift scheduling, supervision, and strategic coordination. Attend FOH briefings and staff meetings as needed. Provide recommendations to improve service quality, audience experience, and internal workflows. Support the creation of a welcoming, inclusive, and professional environment for all staff, patrons, and guests.
Requirements
WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT Strong verbal and written communication skills in English as well as French. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously. Two plus years of relevant experience. Composed under pressure with a strong solution-oriented approach in high-visibility situations. Strong interest in theatre, community engagement, and cultural impact.
