About the Support Services Department The Support Services department at Mount Sinai Hospital is vital to ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient environment for patients and staff. Comprising over 400 dedicated professionals, including housekeepers and porters, the team excels in upholding high standards of cleanliness, managing waste and recycling, and handling mail and linen distribution. We invest in our team with robust training and professional development, ensuring they contribute to the exceptional care our hospital is known for. In this role you will: Perform a variety of housekeeping activities to ensure a clean and safe patient care environment, including patient room cleaning, changing linen, disposing of waste, disinfection of equipment, touchpoints and surfaces within the patient spaces Monitor unit inventory and restocks items as required Execute routine and terminal cleaning of isolated areas Conduct terminal cleaning of wards following outbreaks or increased evidence of infection Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required Job Requirements Mandatory Successful completion of a high school diploma Ability to meet the physical demands of the position in order to perform the essential duties of the job which requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, and lifting of patients/equipment for extended periods of time Preferred 1 year of experience in housekeeping Skills and Knowledge Demonstrated proficiency in communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to be flexible/adaptable in a quickly changing work environment Ability to take direction and work co-operatively in a fast paced team environment Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients/families/co-workers Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history If this sounds like you and you feel ready to build your career within support services, apply via the button below and let us know why you’d be a great addition to our team.
