SOAR Community Services is a not-for-profit organization that has been offering help to the people in Brantford, Brant, and Haldimand for over 55 years. Today, we provide our community members with support in the areas of Employment, Housing, Justice, and Addictions and Mental Health. Some of the most vulnerable people we work with need assistance in more than one – or even all - of these categories.

Provide direct support to vulnerable individuals in emergency housing, warming centres, and supportive housing programs. Manage client documentation and collaborate with the Housing Services team and external agencies to ensure effective program delivery.

The Support Counsellor facilitates group programs and provides personalized support to help clients improve social functioning and successfully reintegrate into the community. Responsibilities also include monitoring medication, mediating disputes, and performing health-related testing such as urinalysis and breathalyzers.

The Child and Youth Counsellor supports youth aged 14-16 by assisting with daily living needs, medication administration, and maintaining a safe environment. They also facilitate life skills groups and therapeutic activities while documenting case notes and incident reports.

The support worker will deliver direct client services to vulnerable individuals in emergency housing and shelter settings while maintaining accurate documentation. They will also collaborate with the housing team and liaise with community resources to address client needs.

The Support Counsellor assists youth in a transitional housing residence by implementing support plans and applying harm reduction and Housing First principles. They are responsible for monitoring medication, maintaining facility safety, and coaching clients on life skills to support independent living.
