Reporting to the Executive Director, the Environmental Services Manager is to maintain a clean and safe living environment for all Southbridge Building residents. Coordinate all equipment maintenance and repairs by staff and contracted service providers. Audit and maintain standards in the laundry and housekeeping department. Take a lead role in H&S for all staff. This is a full-time position within a fast-paced environment with often competing priorities. Must be able set and meet project timelines and be comfortable with meeting Ministry and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities: Create & maintain a safe & secure home environment for all Residents. Maintain all aspects of hiring and performance management of departmental staff. Oversight of staff development, including department specific orientation and training. Maintain detailed documentation required by the FLTCA & Public Health. Supervision of contractors’ work to ensure fulfilment of contractual obligations and adherence to all set FLTCA & Southbridge Regulatory requirements. Preparation and management of departmental budgets; inventory management and control, including purchase of departmental supplies and equipment. Maintenance of departmental policy and procedure manuals; full participation in leadership team activities and responsibilities, including participation on teams and committees, and reporting. Contract tendering in consultation with Southbridge consultants, and with approval of Executive Director. All aspects of management, performance & quality of services provided by departmental staff. All aspects of departmental safety program management, including preventative maintenance, and repair of equipment. Maintenance of records, statistics, and reports in accordance with FLTCA, Southbridge and home level policies (all applicable legislation and standards). Knowledge and Skills Required: Post-secondary studies, Environmental Services certificate or relevant LTC operational experience. Knowledge of evidence-based practices and/or prevailing practices relating to housekeeping, laundry and maintenance. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity is required. Experience in management of human and financial resources (preferred). Experience in a long-term care setting required. Formal training and hands on experience in building maintenance (preferred). Health and Safety certification, or to be completed following hiring. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work the rotational weekend schedule as well as on call for emergencies. A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of hire date. Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months. Requirements
