Job summary
Preschool Program Volunteers assist leaders with preparing and implementing a variety of programs for children ages 2-6Y. Responsibilities: * Review lesson plans to be aware of the activities scheduled for that day * Welcome participants and patrons as they enter the space or program * Actively participate in program activities and interact positively with children * Assist participants in developing and practicing new skills * Help with set-up and take-down of equipment associated with the program * Assist with cleaning the space and supplies * Supervise participants and ensure they are following safety rules and guidelines * Know how to assist in emergency procedures * Model appropriate behavior: listen to the leader(s), sit with the group during instructions, etc. * Help with demonstrations or instructions as requested by the leader(s) * Give positive feedback to participants * Check messages and communicate regularly with supervisors * Log hours on the appropriate time sheet * Be reliable and punctual (arrive ready for shift in proper uniform) Qualities: * Willing to learn new processes and follow procedures * Enthusiastic and a positive role model for children Work Term: * September – June * Evenings and weekends * 2 shifts/week. Shifts are 2-3 hours long. Qualifications/Skills Required: * Between 13 and 17 years of age * Completion of minimum of Emergency First Aid with CPR C or Lifesaving Society Bronze Medallion Certification * Completion of Volunteer Training – Provided by Westside
