QUICK FACTS * Positions Available: Program Leaders, Early Childhood Educator Assistants (ECEAs), and Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) * Compensation: Starting at $18.25 per hour for Program Leaders, with additional compensation applicable for qualified ECEA and ECE positions * Benefits: Flexible work schedule and professional development opportunities * Reporting to: Child Care Manager * Team: YMCA Child Care educators and program leaders * Location: Penticton, supporting programs at Queens Park Elementary and Uplands Elementary * Schedule: On-call, Monday to Friday, with shifts available between 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Our on-call Child Care team plays an important role in helping us provide consistent, high-quality programs for children and families. By stepping in where support is needed, you help ensure children continue to have safe, engaging, and positive experiences. Working across our Penticton programs also gives you the opportunity to gain experience with different age groups, build relationships with multiple teams, and develop your skills in a supportive YMCA environment. WHAT YOU WILL DO Depending on your qualifications and the program you are supporting, you will: * Support the delivery of safe, engaging, and high-quality child care programs. * Assist in planning and delivering play-based programming aligned with YMCA values. * Maintain appropriate supervision and ensure licensing, health, and safety requirements are followed. * Build positive and meaningful relationships with children, families, and colleagues. * Engage with children as a play partner, learning supporter, and homework helper where appropriate. * Support activities including literacy, math, science, creative play, physical activity, and team-building. * Encourage positive, inclusive, and respectful interactions among children. * Adapt to the routines and needs of different YMCA Child Care programs and age groups. * Collaborate with educators and program leaders to create welcoming environments where children can learn, grow, and belong. * Participate in YMCA community initiatives and programs. WHAT YOU BRING We are hiring candidates with a variety of child care qualifications and experience. PROGRAM LEADER * Must be at least 19 years of age in accordance with provincial licensing requirements. * Minimum 20 hours of relevant training in child development, health, safety, or guidance, such as a Responsible Adult Certificate. * Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR Level B or C. * A positive and enthusiastic approach to working with children. EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR ASSISTANT (ECEA) * Valid ECEA certification recognized in British Columbia. * Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR Level B or C. * Passion for supporting children's learning, development, and well-being. * Ability to collaborate effectively with Early Childhood Educators and other members of the Child Care team. EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR (ECE) * Valid Early Childhood Educator certification recognized in British Columbia. * Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR Level B or C. * Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate programming. * Ability to plan and support engaging, child-centred learning experiences. FOR ALL POSITIONS * Reliable transportation. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills. * Flexibility and adaptability to work with different programs, age groups, and teams. * A collaborative and dependable approach to supporting children and colleagues. * Valid Class 4 driver's licence is considered an asset.
