Position Summary The Relief Nutrition Support Worker provides flexible coverage across e4c’s School Nutrition Program as needed. The position prepares, assembles, and serves nutritious food to students while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming food service environment. Working as part of the School Nutrition team, the Relief Nutrition Support Worker supports consistent program delivery by stepping in to cover staff absences, changing operational needs, and shifts at various school locations. The successful candidate will be dependable, adaptable, organized, and comfortable working with students, school staff, and diverse communities. Schedule * Relief/casual position with shifts scheduled based on program and operational needs. * Availability during regular weekday school hours is required. * Shifts and hours may vary depending on staff coverage and program requirements. * Shifts may start as early as 7:00 am. * Ability to accept short notice shifts or schedule changes is an asset. * May be required to work at various school and program locations throughout Edmonton. * Flexibility may be required to accommodate school events, meal delivery schedules, staff absences, and other operational needs. Key Responsibilities * Provide reliable relief coverage for the School Nutrition Program as required. * Prepare, assemble, and serve nutritious food in a safe, timely, and reliable manner. * Follow established menus, recipes, portion guidelines, and food service procedures. * Assist with food and supply inventory and communicate supply needs to appropriate staff. * Maintain accurate portion counts, inventory records, and program documentation. * Follow Alberta Health Services, Occupational Health and Safety, and e4c food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards. * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe food preparation and service environment. * Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and trauma-informed environment that promotes student well-being and healthy food choices. * Build positive and respectful relationships with students while supporting a welcoming meal service experience. * Collaborate effectively with school staff, program coordinators, and other Nutrition Support Workers to ensure consistent program delivery. * Adapt quickly to different school environments, routines, menus, and program needs. * Participate in training, meetings, and emergency preparedness activities as required. * Ensure compliance with organizational policies, health, safety, confidentiality, and privacy requirements. Qualifications Education * High School Diploma or equivalent Certification * Alberta Food Safety Basics Certificate and Food Handler Certificate must be obtained within two weeks of hire. Experience * 1+ year of experience in food handling, meal preparation, or a school or a community nutrition program. * Basic computer proficiency is required, including experience with email, data entry, Microsoft Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications or equivalent software. * Experience working with children and diverse communities, including in school, childcare, community, or nutrition settings; volunteer experience and experience supporting nutrition, inclusion, or student well-being are considered assets. Other Requirements * Available to travel to various program sites throughout Edmonton as needed; access to reliable transportation is required.
