Job Description: Reporting to the Southwest EMS Operations Manager the Emergency Medical Technician - Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) is responsible for responding to emergent and non-emergent EMS calls for service; and for providing initial assessment, treatment, stabilization and transport of ill or injured persons at the Basic Life Support level. The PCP will provide care with strict adherence to: Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) core values, policies, and work standards; Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) Paramedic Clinical Practice Protocols; The Paramedics Act and SCoP Regulatory and Administrative Bylaws; and The Saskatchewan Ambulance Act and Regulations. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Education Primary Care Paramedic diploma (PCP) Licenses Valid Class 4 driver's license Registered Emergency Medical Technician/Primary Care Paramedic (EMT/PCP) International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS) Automated External Defibrillator Certificate (AED) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR) Competencies Intermediate - Conflict resolution skills Advanced - Listening skills Advanced - Interpersonal skills Knowledge and Abilities Ability to work independently Ability to function effectively in high stress and in emergency situations Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team Familiar with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System. Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions Positive approach to deal with challenging situations with empathy and sincerity Decision making through the application of clinical, legal & ethical practice Physical ability to perform the duties of the position Knowledge of EMS Practitioners legislation/protocols/scope of practice Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
