Position Summary The Social Worker & Coordinator is responsible for providing direct client support and counselling, supporting individuals and families facing multiple and complex challenges, and coordinating key administrative and operational functions of the Case Worker Program. This role supports volunteer caseworkers through training, mentorship, and ongoing guidance while ensuring program documentation, client records, and case management processes are completed accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, client-centred, and committed to supporting vulnerable populations through a trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach.
Duties & Responsibilities
Client Support Provide direct support and guidance to clients with multiple and complex needs. Conduct client assessments to identify needs, barriers, and appropriate interventions. Develop and implement client action plans to support individual goals and self-sufficiency. Assist clients in accessing community resources, programs, and services. Support clients experiencing challenges such as financial hardship, housing instability, family conflict, mental health concerns, and other vulnerable circumstances. Maintain professional, ethical, and confidential client relationships.
Case Worker Program Coordination Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of volunteer caseworkers. Facilitate orientation, training, and professional development opportunities for caseworkers. Coordinate ongoing communication, support, and engagement activities for volunteers. Update and maintain program resources and referral information.
Case Worker Support & Supervision Conduct regular check-ins and debrief meetings with volunteer caseworkers. Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to new caseworkers, social workers, and program staff. Assist caseworkers in managing complex and sensitive client situations. Monitor case activity to ensure program policies and procedures are followed. Support quality service delivery through coaching and case consultation.
Program Administration & Documentation Ensure client intake processes are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Monitor the submission and completion of required forms, reports, and program documentation. Ensure case notes and client records are maintained using Salesforce and other case management systems. Ensure cases are opened, updated, and closed according to program standards. Maintain accurate records while upholding confidentiality and privacy requirements. Support program reporting, tracking, and data management as required.
Collaboration & Program Support Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, community agencies, and external partners. Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to strengthen service delivery. Participate in team meetings, training, and organizational activities. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Manager, or MFBCS Executive Team.
Qualifications Degree or diploma in Social Work, Human Services, Community Services, Psychology, or a related field. Registration with the applicable professional regulatory body is considered an asset. Experience providing direct support to vulnerable individuals and families. Strong understanding of trauma-informed, client-centered, and culturally responsive practices. Experience facilitating training, mentoring volunteers, or coordinating community programs is an asset. Experience using Salesforce or other case management systems is preferred. Strong organizational, administrative, and documentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
