About the role

 

Adult Support Workers at BACI support people to lead a good life. This role works with people to explore dreams and passions providing opportunities for people to develop relationships, find places of belonging in community, have a home they view as a haven and support people to work towards a balanced life which is healthy and safe. 

POSITION: Regular Part-Time Residence Support Worker

LOCATION: Burnaby, BC

SALARY: 25.95/hour

HOURS: 30 hours/week 

SCHEDULE: Thursday, Friday Saturday & Sunday (3:30pm-11pm)

Responsibilities:

  • Support people in a shared-living home to have positive control of their home and to be active members of their community.
  • Support people one-to-one and in small group settings.
  • Ensuring that individuals are connected to friends and family. 
  • Providing individuals with the opportunity to make meaningful choices. 
  • Encouraging and recognizing individuals' contributions. 
  • Ensuring that individuals are safe and to promote their health and well-being.
  • Assist individuals to gain knowledge and experience to enhance their independence and/or ability to participate in their community.

Qualifications:

  • The ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently is essential.
  • Experience and specialized training related to autism, medical needs and /or challenging behaviors is an asset.
  • ASL knowledge & ability to use alternative communication systems would be an asset.
  • Working knowledge of computers/mobile apps is necessary.
  • Graduation from a Community College with an appropriate diploma or certificate in Human Services OR an equivalent of education and experience. 
  • Valid unrestricted BC Class 5 Driver's License required.
