Positions Available: Part-time Permanent Overnight (This position will have a set schedule. Working hours will be Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00pm – 6:00am. This will be a requirement of the role.) Compensation: $23.25 + Commuter Benefit + Health and Dental Benefits + Annual Incentive + Employee Assistance Program Start Date: August 1, 2026 Application Closing Date: Sunday, July 12, 2026 The Forks is a fast-paced, fun, and welcoming environment that is community-oriented, collaborative, and innovative. The 52-acre site is an all-season gathering space in downtown Winnipeg featuring local retail shops, a wide variety of food vendors, as well as must-see historical and cultural places and programming. We are looking for individuals who share a love for building community-focused shared spaces that offer a positive visitor experience for everyone. Through community-lead relationships, the Security Officer is responsible for maintaining an inclusive, safe, and secure environment for employees, site tenants, and visitors. Reporting directly to the Security Supervisor, the Security Officer will support The Forks and its shared goals around Community Safety. The Security Officer will:
Build relationships and establish trust with employees, tenants, contractors and visitors. Provide consistent ongoing security related support to all departments. Build relationships and establish trust with external contacts, including community organizations, emergency services, and adjacent stakeholder organizations, for effective collaboration during incidents. Conduct patrols and inspections for physical safety hazards, monitor and respond to alarms and incidents, and report issues accordingly. Maintain accurate records and incident reports. Maintain and be responsible for renewing their Valid Manitoba Security Guard License, Manitoba Occupational Health & Safety accredited First Aid certificate (intermediate), and Smart Choices certification. Be dedicated to continued professional growth and development. Create a positive visitor experience by providing excellent customer service and offering guidance to the community. Build connections with visitors and ensure The Forks is a welcoming space for all. The Security Officer is someone who:
Has the physical stamina to walk, kneel, stand, climb stairs, ride a bike, and lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds while working outdoors in varying weather conditions, for up to 8+ hours. Has strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to attentively listen to community members, is able to de-escalate conflicts peacefully, and maintain a calm demeanour under pressure. Is able to work with a diverse community of varying cultures, perspectives, languages, and backgrounds with an empathetic approach. Has keen attention to detail and situational awareness to proactively identify potential security risks or safety hazards. Has knowledge of Indigenous history in Canada. Has their class 5 driver’s license (strong preference). Has strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently resolve escalated incidents or concerns in accordance with organizational policy and goals. Has strong written and verbal communication skills
