Anglophone South School District invites applications for the following position:
This is an open competition; however, in accordance with the NBUPPE Collective Agreement- Professional Support Group, should unionized employees under this bargaining group apply, employees shall be selected on the basis of skill, ability and qualifications. Requisition #16988 - Behaviour Intervention Mentor – 0.5 FTE Hampton Education Centre – 3 positions
(Note: FTE = Full-time equivalency; 1.0 indicates full-time position,)
Description: The Behaviour Intervention Mentor will provide direct support through various proactive strategies and activities aimed at assisting students with the development of social skills and implementing programs that assist in creating an environment conducive to students staying in school. Work will also consist of developing strategies to keep students retention to promote positive social and communication skill development in students, as well as support the school team in developing positive learning environment initiatives. Work may also include conducting individual or group interventions, support teachers in behaviour management and collaborate with various professionals in the school system and in the community, such as teachers, school psychologists, social workers, probation officers and mental health professionals. The Mentor may participate in case management and case conferencing in the development of intervention plans for behaviour management plans. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree (Psychology, Social Work or Education)
- Specific knowledge regarding behaviour and mental health challenges
- Knowledge of positive support, behavior management strategies
- ABA and crisis intervention is desirable
- An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered
Salary: In accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees–Professional Support Group Collective Agreement, $1391.89 bi-weekly.
