Posting Summary

The primary focus of the Adult Education teacher is to provide courses leading towards adult graduation for students who have not yet achieved secondary school graduation or who require some specific secondary school course for post secondary training, and to provide literacy and numeracy courses for students who do not yet have the prerequisite skills to engage in the grade 11 and 12 courses required for an adult graduation. The candidate will have the ability to work in a self paced, non traditional environment, and will plan and implement curriculum using the principles of learning and criterion referenced assessment, in a structured, collaborative multidisciplinary team based setting. Candidates must be prepared to accommodate a flexible schedule in a year-round setting, including evening work. GENERAL HOURS OF INSTRUCTION ARE BETWEEN 3:30PM AND 9:00PM WITH MOST SCHEDULES STARTING AT 6:30PM

Required Qualifications

Valid BC Teachers Certificate Qualified and experienced in specialization as noted above Experience in teaching Literacy Foundations, English (all levels) Experience in teaching English (all levels) to adult learners Experience in teaching classroom based courses and tutor students enrolled in self paced courses Experience and ability to work with students with special learning needs, and students who are new to Canada Knowledge of effective literacy and numeracy practices and development Knowledge and experience in personalized learning for all students Ability and willingness to work in a technologically rich learning environment Commitment to creating a safe and caring learning environment

Compensation

Salary as per Teachers' Collective Agreement. Current salary range is $59,724.00 to $110,833.00 annually plus comprehensive benefits package.
