About the role
Open availability required.
Altea is Canada's premier fitness and wellness destination. Multiple boutique studios, modern recovery, and lifestyle amenities, all under one roof, for one membership. We bring together the quality of a standalone boutique with the breadth of a full service club, and we deliver an experience that members build their week around. We are the membership members actually use. Everything we do is designed to deliver a premium member experience.
The Youth Programs Associate is the reason families trust Altea with what matters most to them. You create the environment that lets parents train knowing their children are safe, engaged, and genuinely cared for. From the Active Kids Club to Climbing Club, birthday parties, camps, and seasonal programming, you deliver an experience for the next generation that keeps families coming back. When you do this role well, Altea becomes more than a gym, it becomes a place the whole family belongs.
If you are someone who lights up around kids, holds a high bar for safety, and finds real satisfaction in building a space where families feel at home, keep reading.
What You'll Do:
- Deliver Youth Programming. Plan and facilitate age-appropriate programs across Active Kids Club, Climbing Club, birthday parties, youth camps, and structured play. Every session is intentional, active, and built around the children in the room.
- Lead Climbing Activities. Teach proper use of climbing harnesses, spotting techniques, and safety protocols. Assess participants at all skill levels and introduce safety standards in a way that builds confidence, not caution.
- Run the Active Kids Club. Provide high-quality childcare for children from six weeks to twelve years of age. Attend to physical needs, developmental play, allergy records, authorized pick-ups, and everything in between — with full attention, every shift.
- Hold the Safety Standard. Monitor the environment continuously for hazards, respond promptly to incidents, complete daily logbook entries, and ensure all protocols are followed across every area you oversee. Nothing goes unnoticed.
- Make Parents Feel Good About Leaving. Communicate warmly and proactively with parents about their child's day. Create a handoff experience that earns their trust every single time. You are here because children deserve more than supervision. They deserve someone who genuinely shows up for them.
Who You Are:
- You light up around kids. Whether you're running a structured climbing session, facilitating play for a toddler, or leading a youth camp, you bring the same energy and care. You're patient, creative, and invested in each child's experience — not just managing the room.
- You notice what needs doing and you do it. A safety hazard, a child in distress, a parent with a question — you handle it with confidence before anyone has to ask. You hold a high standard because you understand the trust that comes with this role.
- You read people and adapt. You communicate just as naturally with a six-week-old as a twelve-year-old, and with their parents. You're warm, consistent, and approachable — and that consistency is what makes families come back.
- You take the details seriously. Allergy records, incident logs, authorized pick-up lists, room setup — nothing is left to chance. You are flexible when the day shifts, but you never let the standard slip.
What We're Looking For:
- Post-secondary education or coursework in early childhood education, child development, recreation, or a related field — or equivalent direct experience
- At least one year of experience working with children from six weeks to twelve years of age in a programming, childcare, or recreational environment
- Additional certifications in childcare, rock climbing, or youth programming are an asset
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C, maintained annually (training hosted and paid for by Altea)
- Criminal Background Check — Vulnerable Sector required prior to commencement of training and/or work
- A genuine love for working with children and a clear understanding of what it means to be trusted with their care
What You'll Earn:
This role is compensated at a level that reflects the standard we hold and the calibre of person we're looking for. All rates of pay are confidential.
