PHYT 5103 Movement & Exercise Science ([Fall term, September 8 – December 20, inclusive of Exam Period] One Position
COURSEDESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the theories and principles associated with the study of human movement and exercise science so they can apply these to solve clinical problems encountered in physiotherapy practice. Understanding these concepts as they apply to normal movement and exercise will precede a discussion of clinical problems. The movement and exercise science course will provide the foundation for applying anatomy, biomechanics, and movement assessments to evaluate motor function.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The laboratory demonstrator/instructor will assist the course professor by teaching physical assessment, documentation, and treatment practical skills and techniques in the laboratory component of this course for Year I MSc PT students. Some additional hours may be required for preparation time and limited meeting time with the professor. There are 6 laboratory experiences scheduled on Friday from 1-4pm throughout the term. The exact dates for all the labs will become available at the start of the term. The first lab is scheduled for September 18, 2026.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
Candidates must have education in Physiotherapy. A Master’s degree with a research focus in human movement science is preferred along with strong clinical expertise in the musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
Salary Range/Pay Rate
Per CUPE Collective Agreement
