About the Opportunity Echo Bay Marina & Lodge is looking for a full-time or part-time General Manager based in Gilford Island, BC, with a combination of on-site and remote work. This role offers a flexible hybrid arrangement, with a strong on-site presence expected during the busy summer season and primarily remote work during the quieter winter months. Comfortable accommodation is provided whenever you are working on site at Echo Bay.
Reporting to the Echo Bay Marina & Lodge Board of Directors, you'll provide hands-on leadership across all aspects of the marina's operations, overseeing day-to-day business performance while driving the long-term revitalization, sustainability, and growth of this unique off-grid destination.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Leading the day-to-day operations of the marina, lodge, restaurant, store, post office, maintenance, and seasonal events Developing and managing operating budgets, work plans, and financial priorities Identifying funding opportunities, preparing proposals, and developing strategic partnerships Coordinating the maintenance, repair, and improvement of marina infrastructure, facilities, equipment, and utilities Managing employees, contractors, and service providers while fostering a safe, accountable, and high-performing workplace Developing, implementing, and maintaining operational policies, procedures, and WorkSafe-compliant safety practices Supporting booking operations and assisting across guest services, accommodations, retail, food services, and marina operations as required Delivering exceptional guest experiences by monitoring service standards and resolving customer concerns Coordinating procurement, inventory, and supply logistics between Echo Bay and Vancouver Island Building and maintaining relationships with industry partners, local businesses, and community stakeholders while promoting Echo Bay Marina & Lodge Overseeing seasonal operations while ensuring effective year-round planning, maintenance, and business continuity Identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, generate new revenue streams, and support the marina's long-term success
About You To qualify, you will need secondary school completion and a minimum of five (5) years of progressive management experience. A strong background in business, financial, and operational management will also be essential.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued: Experience managing operations in a remote, off-grid, tourism, hospitality, marina, or similar environment Experience overseeing facility maintenance, construction projects, or infrastructure repairs Demonstrated success managing budgets, controlling costs, and identifying funding or revenue generation opportunities Understanding of First Nations culture, traditions, and governance structures SVOP Boat Certification and a valid BC Driver's Licence with access to a reliable vehicle
