Who We Are: Based in Stratford, Ontario, the Stratford Festival is one of the world’s foremost repertory theatre companies. It operates year-round, presenting a season of about a dozen plays each year between the months of April and November, a rich stream of digital content and hundreds of events designed to deepen understanding of the plays. For every person a theatregoer sees on our stages, we have seven people working behind the scenes, some of the world’s most dedicated and experienced arts workers. This Seasonal Part-Time Maintenance Cleaner position performs housekeeping duties inside and outside the Stratford Festival’s facilities. Responsibilities: Duties and responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the following: Perform daily cleaning, housekeeping or other duties throughout all Stratford Festival facilities as assigned. Use proper equipment and cleaning supplies at all times. Daily cleaning duties but not limited to as follows: sweep, mop, scrub, and floors. Vacuum carpets, furniture, drapes, and other fabrics. Dust and clean walls, doors, windows, woodwork, blinds, and furniture. Stocking and supplies to all areas as required. Remove trash from all interior and exterior areas, including consolidating recyclable materials for pick-up. Deliver trash and recycle bins to trash collection area. Pick up of grounds as required. Perform room set-up for meetings, lectures, conferences, special events, etc., as required. To log, note, or otherwise participate in communication logs, checklists, inventory control, etc. Notify the Head of Maintenance of repairs and maintenance work for the building and equipment. To perform and assist with emergency maintenance duties as required, ie. Floods, spills, etc. Respond in a professional, polite and helpful manner when liaising with patrons and staff. This includes communication and response with staff on radio headsets. Adhere to the Festival’s Health and Safety Policy and Procedures guidelines. Comply with fire, safety and other emergency practices. Inform the Facilities Manager/Head of Maintenance of any condition observed to be unsafe. Perform other related duties within the job classification as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job (regular light to moderate lifting and carrying; occasional heavy lifting (up to 50lbs) Behavioural Competencies: Teamwork: readily work with others towards a shared goal, actively support teammates and recognize everyone’s contributions Diplomacy: show discretion and tact in dealing with a variety of stakeholders. Current Hourly Rate: $24.31 This seasonal unionized position is located in Stratford, Ontario and will begin as soon as possible. As a seasonal part-time position, hours are not guaranteed and will vary based on operational needs. Candidates must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
