New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking a Quality Assurance Analyst to support business intelligence and analytics quality assurance. This role will be responsible for establishing, maturing, and sustaining a formal QA function for Power BI reports, dashboards, data models, and related analytics products. The successful candidate will develop QA standards, test strategies, regression test suites, release checklists, quality gates, and validation processes to ensure reporting solutions are accurate, reliable, traceable, auditable, and suitable for business use.

Responsibilities:

Establish, mature, and sustain a formal QA function for Power BI reports, dashboards, data models, and related analytics products. Develop and execute test strategies, test plans, and test cases for Power BI solutions. Maintain QA standards, regression test suites, release checklists, and core QA deliverables to support consistent and reliable reporting. Perform functional testing and regression testing across analytics components to confirm reporting solutions remain reliable for business operations, compliance reporting, resource optimization, and KPI monitoring. Conduct end-to-end data validation, including source-to-report accuracy, to ensure reporting outputs support operational decisions, regulatory and compliance reporting, resource planning, and performance measurement. Establish and enforce formal QA gates before release to support reliable business reporting, compliance readiness, and controlled deployment of analytics products. Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects and issues using tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or equivalent platforms. Collaborate with developers and technical teams to support timely resolution of defects. Validate fixes and confirm issues are resolved before production deployment. Validate data integrity and consistency across shared Power BI models and downstream reports. Assess downstream impacts of changes to data models on dependent reports, dashboards, operational decision-making, compliance reporting, resource planning, and KPI reporting. Ensure high standards of data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and traceability to support operational decision-making, audit readiness, resource allocation, and business performance reporting. Standardize QA practices and introduce repeatable testing frameworks and regression coverage to improve reporting reliability and reduce rework. Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency, reduce rework, optimize resource use, and support more predictable delivery of reporting solutions. Review business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and reporting specifications to ensure they are complete, clear, testable, and aligned with business, compliance, resource planning, and KPI reporting needs. Validate that dashboards and reports accurately reflect approved business rules, operational processes, regulatory obligations, resource planning assumptions, and key performance indicators. Identify data quality, process, control, or reporting gaps that may affect compliance, resource allocation, operational efficiency, or KPI performance. Recommend mitigation strategies and continuous improvement opportunities to improve business operations and reporting quality. Identify and recommend opportunities for test automation, reusable validation scripts, and QA process improvements. Develop and maintain reusable test assets, including regression test suites and data validation scripts. Work with internal stakeholders and business unit owners to understand operational priorities, compliance needs, resource considerations, and performance reporting requirements. Translate stakeholder requirements into measurable QA criteria, controls, and validation processes. Present QA findings, risks, recommendations, and quality outcomes in clear business language for technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements:

Experience as a Quality Assurance Analyst, Data QA Analyst, BI QA Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar role supporting reporting, analytics, or data solutions. Experience establishing or maturing QA processes, standards, templates, methodologies, quality gates, and release governance practices. Experience testing Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models, data models, or related analytics products. Strong understanding of data validation and testing methodologies. Strong SQL and data querying skills. Experience validating data from SQL Server, ETL pipelines, semantic models, and Power BI reports. Experience with data profiling and data quality assessment. Understanding of data modelling concepts, including semantic models, relationships, and measures. Understanding of DAX for validating measures and calculations. Strong understanding of star schema and snowflake schema design. Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or equivalent tools. Ability to assess downstream impacts of data model changes on dependent reports and dashboards. Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify data inconsistencies, anomalies, and quality issues. Structured and methodical approach to testing, validation, defect management, and release sign-off. Experience reviewing business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and reporting specifications. Strong analytical, communication, root cause analysis, and risk assessment skills. Ability to translate business requirements into measurable QA criteria, controls, and validation processes. Ability to communicate technical findings, quality risks, and recommendations clearly to business and technical stakeholders. Ability to work with minimal supervision while supporting timely delivery of business, compliance, and performance reporting objectives. Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with operational, compliance, resource planning, and performance reporting information.

Preferred Requirements:

Experience with Power Query (M). Experience with Microsoft Fabric. Experience supporting public-sector, utility, infrastructure, regulatory, environmental, or compliance-driven reporting environments. Experience supporting QA for business operations, resource planning, performance management, or KPI reporting. Experience developing reusable validation scripts, test automation approaches, or repeatable QA frameworks for analytics solutions.
