St. Martin and St. Matthew Schools are hiring a Male Ukrainian Dance Instructor. The position requires working 10.5 hours a week at St. Martin School and 4.2 hours at St. Matthew School. Candidates with a genuine enthusiasm for working with young learners and fostering their growth and a commitment to sharing and preserving Ukrainian dance traditions and cultural heritage are welcome to apply. Successful candidate will contribute to academy curriculum planning and program development and teach Ukrainian Dance to students from Kindergarten through Grade Six (Ballet, corner work, center work, two choreographed dances in specific regions).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the development and delivery of instructional plans and curriculum-based activities;
- Collaborate with the Administrative team and Arts Consultant to enhance instruction and student engagement;
- Deliver classroom instruction integrating Ukrainian culture, arts, and language;
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet student needs and developmental levels;
- Manage classroom activities, behavior, and student participation;
- Support student learning through demonstration, coaching, and targeted assistance;
- Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback;
- Identify and support struggling students with targeted strategies and foster positive relationships with students and maintain an inclusive learning environment;
- Coordinate events which may include seasonal concerts,festivals and community performances.
QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
- Degree or diploma in education, foreign language, or arts preferred, with 5+ years of instructional experience, Certification in classical dance instruction;
- Fluency in English and Ukrainian;
- Knowledge of Ukrainian and character dance techniques, Alberta Education system, and Dance Academy syllabus;
- Understanding of elementary curriculum and cultural programming;
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to develop and deliver instructional material;
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills;
- Ability to build and maintain rapport and trust with students;
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills;
- Proven teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with teachers and learning coaches;
- Strong organizational, planning, and coordination skills;
- Effective problem-solving, analytical, and needs assessment abilities.
